Our Story
Freeman Bare Foot® was born out of a desire to care for and beautify feet in a natural way. Our founder, Amanda Freeman, struggled for years with dry, cracked heels and calluses on her feet. No matter how much lotion she applied, her feet never felt truly moisturized. She tried foot scrubs and treatments at spas, but they were often harsh and drying. Amanda knew there had to be a better way.
After months of research and testing natural ingredients, Amanda created the first Freeman Bare Foot® product: a deeply hydrating foot lotion that softened the roughest, driest feet overnight. She shared it with friends and family, who were amazed by how well it worked. They told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on. Before long, there was more demand than Amanda could keep up with in her home kitchen!
In 1976, Amanda officially launched Freeman Bare Foot® with an initial line of three foot lotions and two scrubs. We started selling at local boutiques and farmers markets before expanding online and into retail stores nationwide.
Today, we offer over 20 luxurious foot care products including lotions, scrubs, masks, soaks and more. Our line has grown, but our roots remain the same. Every Freeman Bare Foot® formula focuses on gentle, effective natural ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, oatmeal and essential oils. We believe happy feet start with high-quality plant-based ingredients in their purest form.

Meet Our Founder
Freeman Bare Foot® was founded by Amanda Freeman, a longtime foot care enthusiast with painfully dry feet. After years of frustration with foot creams that didn’t work, Amanda combined her passion for botanicals with her background in marketing to create luxurious, natural foot care products that actually deliver.
Though the company has grown, Amanda remains closely involved in all aspects of product development. She works alongside our chemists to perfect every formula, insists on testing samples herself, and approves every product label design.
Amanda brings an easygoing, compassionate leadership style. At team meetings, she’s likely to kick off her shoes and tuck her feet under her on the couch. Outside the office, you’ll find Amanda walking barefoot at the beach, tending to her garden, and spending time with her two rescue dogs, Paws and Sandy.
Giving Back
In addition to creating quality foot care, Freeman Bare Foot® is committed to making the world a little better. We donate a portion of proceeds to:
- Clean water initiatives – Nearly 1 in 10 people lack access to safe water. We support organizations working to install wells, filters and plumbing in underserved communities worldwide.
- Animal rescue – Each year, up to 4 million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters. We donate to no-kill shelters and networks that facilitate pet adoption.
- Sustainable agriculture – We fund grants and scholarships for young farmers pursuing organic and regenerative farming practices.
We also partner with our local food bank to donate hygiene and personal care products to those in need in our community. We aim to grow our social impact along with our business.
